“Everlasting God”
We’d planned as a large family (Rosses, Tituses and the Pauls) to sing a special number in church today – “Everlasting God”. We’d done a little practice on Friday but there was a lot of room for improvement. BEcky hadnt yet practiced with us and so we met up in church a little earlier and all of us practiced the song a couple of times. Beckys brother PEter also managed to join us.Well, after a little goof up with the announcement slide and after the bass guitar conked out we sang our hearts out and really enjoyed it because the song was so beautiful and appropriate to happenings in the last few weeks. I played the drums (after a very…
Engaged
Will I ever find the words to tell you what happened today and express the way I feel ? Never….. words are just not enough when God’s plans simply blow your mind away and He makes a day so beautiful. Becky and I got engaged today and it was more than just a ceremony.Yes, there was the traditional plate-and-gift carrying, the Sari change, the ring-garland-bible exchange. But it was also more than that as every moment Becky and I felt so special because God had chosen us to be together. I’ll never ever find the words to express the way we felt tonight. You can see a few pics here – http://cmc94.fotopic.net/c1189659.htmlBut even those photos which are worth a thousand words…
Altec Lansing Service center
My Altec Lansing speakers had conked out a few weeks ago and I had to lug it with me to Chennai to get it to the service center. Appa and I located the center and gave in the speakers for repair and we also managed to locate a DTP center to type out one of the tamil songs we were gonna use for the Engagement. A cuppa coffee later my speakers were repaired and as good as new (hopefully!!)I spoke to Becky about the quickest route to get there and my dad then dropped me off at Mount Road and went home. I had a pretty loooong wait for the bus and was pretty impatient. Finally I got one and…
New Year Surprise
I entered the New Year on duty at the hospital and a little busy. The best thing was being able to talk to Becky after she came back from church. Just past midnight Sandeep dropped in and offered to drop me off at the station at 6 AM to catch my train to Chennai. Cool!I slept a little on the noisy train and managed to speak a little to Becky. I was planning to go home, have lunch and then go off to Beckys place. My dad said he’d pick me up at the station. The train was about 20 minutes late and there was my dad waiting to pick me up. I started walking with him to the entrance and…
Christmas alone
Yup…. I know the title of this post sounds depressing and dismal, but thats how my Christmas was supposed to be! Alone on call, rounds, lazing in the quarters etc etc…..?Actually it turned out much better than that!!First of all I spoke to Becky…. that made the day so much better even before it started! Then, there were not too many patients – so I actually managed to go to church for the first time this month in Trichy! And after rounds Sandeep invited Prakash and me for lunch and soon we were having a great lunch and lovely time with his parents and sister.I also managed to rest a little in the afternoon and after a couple of loooong…
The day it was supposed to be
Its kinda funny, but today was the day Becky and I shouldve got engaged as per our original plans! We had to postpone it as it seemed too close and settled for the 6th of January. As I think of today, I’m so thankful we didnt have the engagement today. It was too early and Becky had just had exams last week. I also found out a couple of days ago that I would not be able to be in Chennai and would hev to be in Trichy today as Dr. Winston was on leave!!! Now that would have been disastrous!!S and A could not make it from the US and that would have been a big disappointment.Lotsa other little inconveniences like…
Watching her go….
It was a daze today. All I remember is packing up and then going to the station holding Becky’s hand while she just looked down.Opened the door, pulled out my bag, gave Becky a little hug and then…… I watched her leave….I turned to enter the station and then it hit me hard… I wouldn’t be seeing her for 3 more weeks …..So there I was at the crowded station and the only thing on my mind was Becky. I kept replaying the events of the last couple of days over and over in my mind sitting amidst a thousand people….. Is this how love feels??!! Sadness when you say goodbye to her and yet joy that eternity is togetherness. I…
Shopping etc etc
Beckys parents came to Chennai from Kodaikanal and we started shopping for the rings. After a few disappointing shops we finally went into GRT Jewellers and soon stumbled onto a beautiful ring for Becky that was awesome. We also decided to order my ring there itself and had alittle fun trying to get the right size : I’ve got this funny finger shape where the joint is big and the finger is slim!! But anyway the jeweller promised me a good fit… and we’ll trust him.Lunch was great at the Abirami Food Mall and it felt good as we were all excited about the engagement. We then dropped off Athai (That’s what I call Beckys mom) at the bus stop and…
Exams, the suit….. and Becky!
Another exciting day! I’d reached Chennai last night and we had planned to try and finish off the shopping for the engagement over an extended weekend. Becky had her major 5 hour exams today and I seemed more nervous than her about it. We prayed about it and I was sure she’d do it well. I went to church (AMC) today and spent the afternoon watching Ice Age wishing Becky was with me. The movie is a great mix of fun, humor, emotion and graphics – the kind that you could watch laughing and holding someone you love!!After her maraton exam and a session at the clinic Becky finally left to meet me and we went to Hi-Style where we…
Crazy me!!!
I finally came back to Trichy by bus which was a pretty bad ride actually!! The only bright spot was that I could speak to Becky on and off. Becky was leaving tonite to Kanyakumari by bus for her friends engagement. We suddenly realised that her bus would be passing through Trichy sometime in the night. Once she got on in Chennai she enquired and we found that the bus would stop for a couple of minutes in Trichy. I found out the exact spot and at 10.30 Pm there I was… waiting on the road for a red bus with my Becky to drive in. After about 40 minutes Becky called up to lemme know that they had entered…
