Addicted2jesus SMS service

I started this a few years ago when airtel allowed us to send free / cheap SMS. I soon had more than 100 contacts (Indian and International) who subscribed and were receiving cool Christian quotes/ thoughts every week or so. The process took quite some time. It was easy on my old Nokia and when I got my Sony it became a little more difficult and over the last couple of months there were lots of sending errors. A few weeks ago I bumped into my friend Bijoi online and he introduced me to a service that allows you to do it online for free and with just a single click! It saved me a lot of time and effort…

A day of Many

Sorry for the bland title – but I couldnt think of anything interesting.1. The day started off with Sruthika – a cute 1 year old girl who was admitted with a severe pneumonia and needed 10 days of expensive antibiotics before she was fit for discharge today. She’s back to her bubbly self today and when I saw her today – there she was with a very macho looking mustache drawn by some nurse. She seemed to be enjoying it and I’m glad she got better. Here’s a pic2. Badminton: Yesterday all of us (Arun, Catherine, Praburam, Rajendran, Becky and I) went crazy and played badminton till it was too dark to see and we decided to make our own…

A hole in the head

“Look doc – I have a hole in my head”Thats what Vigneswaran seems to be telling me in the pic below!Unfortunately the story isnt as funny although it has a happy ending.Vignesh was brough a couple of weeks ago after he fell off the gate which he was playing on. He had a huge swelling on the head and a black eye. An Xray and CT revealed a skull fracture. He was a little dull and drowsy and we started him on several meds, transfused blood (His Hemoglobin dropped to 6 gm%) and as soon as he was stable he was wheeled into the Operation Theater where a bit of his skullbone was removed and some blood clots removed. He…

Road Rulez – the PLANK

I left at 8.45 Am today to pick up Becky from the Railway station. As usual I cringed everytime I hit a bump. I stared aghast as I found a few depressions and cracks on the road filled hastily with big stones actually causing more harm than good. Pedestrians scooted across in front of me. A guy with his wife and kids on a bike dangerously overtook me and then screeched to a halt as a cyclist cut him off. An old lady sauntered across the road in her own world. Buses thundered past me. A car zoomed past to beat the lights while in the opposite direction several motorists jumped the red light. I made it safely and reached…

Christmas Shopping

To be frank, I have never ever thought of buying stuff during Christmas. I guess thats the usual attitude of a bachelor doing a PG and buried in work. But then marriage changes things and this Christmas looks like its gonna be a little different.Becky has already brought her dress. After a few years, I will actually be buying a new set of clothes for Christmas (color and design to be chosen, not surprisingly, by Becky). We actually bought a few cards. And we’re already tree hunting. Some nice decorations seem a good idea too. Hmm….. we actually will not be getting presents and gifts for a lot of people. But the bottomline? Christmas is NOT about stars and gifts and…

Whazzat @ Trichy

Its good to buy things a little cheaper than the marked price. FSM @ Trichy is one of the biggest shopping places and you can get everything about 5% cheaper. We do shop there quite frequently. But everytime we go there this sign pasted in a lot of places stumps us. Ok the message is quite clear, but the grammar and the unconnected eco message make it grin-worthy. Enjoy:WE BEAT THE PRICE!!NO ONE ON MRP!!!(KEEP OUR COUNTRY CLEAN) Figure it out and enjoy Trichy!

Ticket hunting

I finally got round to book a ticket for the trip to Chennai. No trains – so that left only the bus option! The best private buses were already booked as it was Diwali weekend. I hunted around for an hour in the hot afternoon and finally ended up booking the Government Airbus – slow and not the most comfortable. But thats all I could get for the weekend. I paid for the ticket on the dusty counter and pocketed it and rode back. A gust of wind suddenly blew the ticket out of my pocket and sent it flying onto the road! I almost didnt even realise it till I was about 50 meters away. I turned back and…

The Eggs-pert

Well marriage improves many skills and brings out skills that you never knew existed. Making an omelette is no big deal – it has never been a big deal. But making it in style? After a little practice, I’ve decided that the best method to break and start making an omelette is doing in single-handed. Thats just me alone and breaking the egg with a single hand! Yup – I love it; holding the egg in one hand cracking it on the side of the pan and pouring it onto the pan in one fluid motion. Ooh what joy. Truely proves that in married life, I am the eggs-pert cook!! Now only if that expanded to more areas…… Enjoy the…

Whazzat @ Trichy

Continuing the series on weird Trichy findings, let me introduce you to my Chicken Shop. Its called A-one chicken stall and is always bustling with people waiting to buy good chicken. So far so good! Now what I dont understand is what actually inspired these people to put this signboard outside the stall which says “FAT CHICKS chicken shop”. I find it a little out of place. Do they actually want to sound that way or do they genuinely want to refer only to the chicken!! Anyway – the customers dont seem to give two hoots about it and just grab their chicken and leave. And noone’s complaining as yet. So let sleeping dogs lie…..zzzzzzzzzz…..
