A day of Many

Sorry for the bland title – but I couldnt think of anything interesting.1. The day started off with Sruthika – a cute 1 year old girl who was admitted with a severe pneumonia and needed 10 days of expensive antibiotics before she was fit for discharge today. She’s back to her bubbly self today and when I saw her today – there she was with a very macho looking mustache drawn by some nurse. She seemed to be enjoying it and I’m glad she got better. Here’s a pic2. Badminton: Yesterday all of us (Arun, Catherine, Praburam, Rajendran, Becky and I) went crazy and played badminton till it was too dark to see and we decided to make our own…

Road Rulez – the PLANK

I left at 8.45 Am today to pick up Becky from the Railway station. As usual I cringed everytime I hit a bump. I stared aghast as I found a few depressions and cracks on the road filled hastily with big stones actually causing more harm than good. Pedestrians scooted across in front of me. A guy with his wife and kids on a bike dangerously overtook me and then screeched to a halt as a cyclist cut him off. An old lady sauntered across the road in her own world. Buses thundered past me. A car zoomed past to beat the lights while in the opposite direction several motorists jumped the red light. I made it safely and reached…

Rajasthan

Finally we boarded the Indian Airlines flight at Jaipur and bid adieu to all the palaces, forts, architecture and the camels in Jaipur. It was quite a trip and we really enjoyed it. Thank God for safety, fun, excitement, timings, adventure and fellowship. Its a looooong story and you can see the pics in my Rajasthan album to get a whiff of all that happened in Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaipur.

Romantic!

Becky and I have some of the most romantic conversations this world can ever dream of. I really cant narrate the more romantic ones on my blog, but here are some….. with a twist. The scene: I’d finished OPD a little earlier than Becky and after seeing her at her OPD, I was sent off to buy some eggs before I went home. The twist: Instead of going home after the purchase, I decided to take the loooong detour back to her clinic and walk back with her.The conversation:Me (with the sweet look in my eyes): Honey, do you know why I came back to pick you up at the clinic? She (with batting of eyelids, innocent look and a sweet smile): Uh……

The truth can be hard!

I dunno whether it was a secret…. but today it was out and official – Aruns first reaction when he saw Beckys photo after we decided to get married. (Arun is my brother and is married to Lisa). The cat flew out of the bag as expected when 2 young ladies were talking on the phone – as is usual to happen when 2 ladies start talking!! The 2 ladies were Becky and Lisa and after the conversation I was officially introduced to the sentence my brother had proclaimed almost a year ago when Becky and I decided to get married.“How on earth did someone like Jeyanth end up with such a pretty girl”{{A minute of silence to let it…

Birthday!!!

Am I too old for this??!! Considering the fact that my last few birthdays have been quiet affairs spent alone/at work/on call/writing exams/travelling etc the statistical probability that the latest one would also be another similar one was high. So was it?Nope – statistically speaking a confounder stepped in and that changed the predicted path of the day, whipped it off trajectory and took it soaring to new heights of excitement! Yes – marriage and my pretty wife made today unforgettable!!So what was in store – Seinfeld, Treasure Hunt, a shirt, a surprise birthday cake, a pacifier, fried rice, sausage, french fries….. the list wont stop! It’ll be too difficult to go through the entire day with a blog entry/

Oops I did it again!

Today was the Bank Day. I finally got the time to go to the bank to deposit our salaries. No problems. Took the cash, kick-started my bike, took the short trip to the bank and deposited the amount and got my passbook updated. I also spoke to the manager about an option called SBplus which would earn better interest rates for my money and will probably shift to that option soon. Feeling like I’d done a good job I rode back home, climbed up the stairs and was about to ring the doorbell when I saw it….. I had locked Becky inside the house! It was by force of habit – most times when I leave the house I lock…

Wet and empty handed!

Home needed two things for the night –1. Idli maavu (for dinner and breakfast)2. Tomatoes (for lunch tomorrow)We decided to scoot to a shop 10 minutes away and get our supplies. It was drizzling a ‘little’ and we felt it was OK. 30 seconds after we roared off on the bike the drizzle was a steady rain and it was getting worse. We literally rode into a shop just across the road where Becky jumped in to check for the idli maavu and I drove on to a small vegetable shop further down the road. The veg shop unfortunately did not have good tomatoes and I rode back to see Becky standing at the other shop entrance – empty handed;…

Burnt tea

I love making tea. Today Becky was held up at work and I came home a few minutes before her. So I decided to make some tea for both of us. Simple task! Pour in the water and the milk and the tea leaves and some sugar and it was lying there on low heat on the stove. Then I got the phonecall – it took me 2 minutes to complete it. And yes… those 2 precious minutes was all it took to forget about the tea simmering on the stove. Soon the house was filled with the aroma of burnt tea and I hurriedly switched off the stove and attempted to clean the mess. The countertop and stove were…

Weekend in Kodaikanal

On friday Praburam said he wanted to be on duty this weekend which left Becky and me with nothing to do over the weekend. So we decided to surprise her parents with a trip home to Kodaikanal. We spent Friday night hunting around for a cordless phone which we finally got just as the last shop was closing!! We hurried through Saturdays OPD and soon we were on a frightfully slow bus to Dindigul where we barely caught the connecting bus to Kodaikanal!! Soon we were climbing the winding roads and felt the wind start to chill!! As we took a taxi home I made a hurried phone to Athai with a story about my friend who wanted to drop…
