Its gonna be Christmas…..

…. and this Christmas is gonna be different for me. The crux is the same, but this year theres gonna be a tree, some decorations, a vacation, new clothes…!The core is the same – its the celebration of Christ who came to save me!!Today Becky and I went and bought the Christmas tree…. marking the beginning of an exciting season. We got a great deal and were soon zooming back home on my Kinetic Honda with the tree tucked between my legs. I logged on to the internet and played some Christmas music and soon we were unpacking the tree. It took more time than expected, but looked awesome. I decided to light it up before we started decorating it…

Christmas Shopping

To be frank, I have never ever thought of buying stuff during Christmas. I guess thats the usual attitude of a bachelor doing a PG and buried in work. But then marriage changes things and this Christmas looks like its gonna be a little different.Becky has already brought her dress. After a few years, I will actually be buying a new set of clothes for Christmas (color and design to be chosen, not surprisingly, by Becky). We actually bought a few cards. And we’re already tree hunting. Some nice decorations seem a good idea too. Hmm….. we actually will not be getting presents and gifts for a lot of people. But the bottomline? Christmas is NOT about stars and gifts and…

Letter from Appa – Gods Miracle

Its always very encouraging to get an email about Gods miraculous ways and even better when its from your parents.Appa sent me this email today. Hope it encourages you too!“Dear Children,This morning we went to Indian Immigration department and met the Deputy Director. After verifying the papers he wrote a note to Immigration officer to extend the Visa till 07/09/2008. We got the token and waited for our turn. The officer (a lady) seeing the Deputy Director’s note was upset and said “why you want to extend your visa…there are people waiting for more than 3 years and your approved papers have not yet come from New Delhi”. We just kept quiet. She was arguing with other Immigration officers and…

The truth can be hard!

I dunno whether it was a secret…. but today it was out and official – Aruns first reaction when he saw Beckys photo after we decided to get married. (Arun is my brother and is married to Lisa). The cat flew out of the bag as expected when 2 young ladies were talking on the phone – as is usual to happen when 2 ladies start talking!! The 2 ladies were Becky and Lisa and after the conversation I was officially introduced to the sentence my brother had proclaimed almost a year ago when Becky and I decided to get married.“How on earth did someone like Jeyanth end up with such a pretty girl”{{A minute of silence to let it…

Kids love to play

Just one of those perks when you are a paediatrician!!I’d asked my parents to buy a couple of cheap toys on the train when they came home and they got two cute plastic toys. And did the kids love them – you BET!!So here’s a video of a kid playing with both of them – he could do it for hours if we allowed him to!!The video is a low quality mobile cam video – but you dont need a high resolution camera to see that the kid is enjoying himself!

To church on time!

Nothing too fancy about this title right. Wrong!!Becky and I woke up at 7.20 only and the church service starts at 8 AM. We hurriedly got ready, made coffee, bit into some breakfast and left home at 8.30 feeling a little guilty. We reached the church and noticed that a lot of people were coming out and a lot were just entering it!! Weird…..A little inquiry revealed that from today the church timings were altered. – 7:30 AM was the English service for 1 hour followed by the Tamil service. As we hadn’t been to church for a couple of weeks, we were not aware of this change. We had an awesome time at church and also realized how much God…

Uh – oh…. did I actually do that??!!

I love helping out with the cooking…. usually. My specialties include beverages, grating and … the chutney – a minced paste of coconut, onions, chilly, ginger and some greens. It was my task to do the honors tonight and I started off great – no looking at the recipe; just straight off the head cooking. After carefully grating the coconut (someday I’ll let ya all know how I break the coconut) I put the mixture in a bowl and switched on the mixie to blend them together. The mixie roared into life as I turned on the power and it seemed strangely smooth… yup…. very smooth – because there wasnt anything in the jar!! Yes – I’d forgotten to put…

Weekend in Kodaikanal

On friday Praburam said he wanted to be on duty this weekend which left Becky and me with nothing to do over the weekend. So we decided to surprise her parents with a trip home to Kodaikanal. We spent Friday night hunting around for a cordless phone which we finally got just as the last shop was closing!! We hurried through Saturdays OPD and soon we were on a frightfully slow bus to Dindigul where we barely caught the connecting bus to Kodaikanal!! Soon we were climbing the winding roads and felt the wind start to chill!! As we took a taxi home I made a hurried phone to Athai with a story about my friend who wanted to drop…

Fun @ the exhibition

Beckys parents were visiting us for a few days and it was amazing to have them around pampering us with food and stuff. I was on call, but that did not hamper the excitement except for the few times I had to scamper off for C-section calls and emergencies. 30th June was our 1 month wedding anniversary (if there is such a thing) and we all decided to go to an exhibition on the outskirts of Trichy. I was a little worried as I was on call and we prayed that I wouldnt have to rush back. And wow! Did we have fun @ the exchibition. The stalls were crowded and there was some great good. We especially enjoyed the lime…
