Addicted2jesus SMS service

I started this a few years ago when airtel allowed us to send free / cheap SMS. I soon had more than 100 contacts (Indian and International) who subscribed and were receiving cool Christian quotes/ thoughts every week or so. The process took quite some time. It was easy on my old Nokia and when I got my Sony it became a little more difficult and over the last couple of months there were lots of sending errors. A few weeks ago I bumped into my friend Bijoi online and he introduced me to a service that allows you to do it online for free and with just a single click! It saved me a lot of time and effort…

Church Dedication

Very busy night, sick babies, minimal sleep, multiple phonecalls, rounds to do in the morning, on call, a call at 8AM – a great menu to bunk church this morning. Add to this the fact that todays service was at a new place further away and it was a longer special service expected to last more than 2 hours. I slumped back into bed at 8.30 AM groggy – the service was supposed to start at 9 AM! Then somehow Becky encouraged me and after a hurried breakfast I peeped into all the kids in the ward and we rode off in search of the new place where our church was gonna get relocated. We reached after the worship time….

Another day of manys!

It was supposed to be a lazy Sunday but turned out to be actioned packed.Wake-up call:We woke up late. Now there may be excuses for this, but I think we should get a little more organised and wake up in time for church on Sundays.Joseph comes in:Joseph a Christian friend from Vellore dropped in suddenly to visit me. He’d been promising to do that for a few weeks. It was nice to see him. I love his faith and simplicity and I was awe-struck that he made the overnight trip just to see me. We traded stories and Becky made some awesome food inspite of no notice and we had a blessed timeShuttle time…. again:We got to thrash around again…

New Year on the bus

Now thats not something anyone wants to do – enter the new year on a bus. But we did exactly that.We wanted to spend New Year at Chennai with my parents, but could leave only after work on the 31st. So we took a bus at 7.30 Pm and at the stroke of midnight were dozing on the buz together. The reason we did that was to reach early on the 1st so we could goto church! It worked out and although we were tired we managed to go to church and have a blessed time. The bus got delayed in a few places but we reached by 5 AM and got ready and reached church before 7 AM! Thank…

Becky @ the retreat

Today was the longest Becky and I were away from each other. I was on duty so i was stuck at the hospital and Becky went for a retreat organized by the hospital at a place 1 hour away. The day was quite eventful I started off early and went to church at 7.30 AM when Becky left for the retreat. I got no calls during the church service. Unfortunately I wasnt so lucky the rest of the day. Rounds took a long time and I had to squeeze in some shopping, cleaning and cooking (yes…. I said cooking). There were frequent interruptions and lots of sick children. Becky too came back tired but we had a joyful reunion (the…

To church on time!

Nothing too fancy about this title right. Wrong!!Becky and I woke up at 7.20 only and the church service starts at 8 AM. We hurriedly got ready, made coffee, bit into some breakfast and left home at 8.30 feeling a little guilty. We reached the church and noticed that a lot of people were coming out and a lot were just entering it!! Weird…..A little inquiry revealed that from today the church timings were altered. – 7:30 AM was the English service for 1 hour followed by the Tamil service. As we hadn’t been to church for a couple of weeks, we were not aware of this change. We had an awesome time at church and also realized how much God…

Weekend in Kodaikanal

On friday Praburam said he wanted to be on duty this weekend which left Becky and me with nothing to do over the weekend. So we decided to surprise her parents with a trip home to Kodaikanal. We spent Friday night hunting around for a cordless phone which we finally got just as the last shop was closing!! We hurried through Saturdays OPD and soon we were on a frightfully slow bus to Dindigul where we barely caught the connecting bus to Kodaikanal!! Soon we were climbing the winding roads and felt the wind start to chill!! As we took a taxi home I made a hurried phone to Athai with a story about my friend who wanted to drop…

The drive – Part II

Today is Good Friday. It meant that I only had to do rounds and wait for emergencies if any. I did that. But I didnt do what I should have done – I didnt go to church today. OK I can give you pretty acceptable excuses – I was on call, there were 4 cases in casualty (3 at 10 AM and one at 12 noon) which would have meant that I would have had to scurry back from church, I was tired etc etc. B ut I wonder whether that suffices.Yesterday I rediscovered my drive to learn driving …. and today I discovered that my “drive” to go to church seems to be at an all time low. Part…

“Everlasting God”

We’d planned as a large family (Rosses, Tituses and the Pauls) to sing a special number in church today – “Everlasting God”. We’d done a little practice on Friday but there was a lot of room for improvement. BEcky hadnt yet practiced with us and so we met up in church a little earlier and all of us practiced the song a couple of times. Beckys brother PEter also managed to join us.Well, after a little goof up with the announcement slide and after the bass guitar conked out we sang our hearts out and really enjoyed it because the song was so beautiful and appropriate to happenings in the last few weeks. I played the drums (after a very…

This is where I stand….. again!

I’d come back to Vellore last night to attend the Church Retreat today. I woke up sleepily and soon Koshi & I scooted off in an auto to church (chomping bread) and loaded lots of stuff into the big bus and then, after stopping off at the hospital and college campuses, a loaded bus along with a line of cars twisted around narrow paths to PRAVAHAM – a quiet Retreat Center. And at Pravaham… I discovered where I stood – spiritually.I really cant put my finger on what some magic verse /song / part of the message that opened my eyes so much. But at the end of the day, I just knew where I needed more strength, where I…
